Spring is has arrived and that means fresh new products. Here are a few notables.
Camelbak® the industry leader in hydration has, in addition to updating almost their entire pack line, come up with a cool new gadget. It’s called the Flow Meter™. Consider it a fuel gauge for your hydration pack. It attaches to the hose and will give you feed back on water usage. It is also programmable to your personal hydration goals. It is available as a stand-alone accessory or can be purchased with a reservoir.
Merrell® has introduced a great new hiking shoe to their Outventure line up. It’s called the Col. This shoe features a Grade 2 nylon insole for trail hiking, molded nylon arch shank, and Vibram® Col Outsole with TC5 Sticky Rubber Compound. It also has energy-absorbing TrailBound™ Technology midsole to cushion the ride. All of this, combined with full grain leather upper and bellows tongue to keep debris out, makes this one of my favorite hikers for 2010. Available in men’s and women’s sizing (men’s color shown).
Long live Rock N Rolla, Vasque’s new TPU plate system available in the new Transistor FS. The Rock N Rolla provides for a flexible forefoot motion for increased agility and firm torsion control for stability. It also offers protection from stones under foot. The Transistor FS combines cushion and stability in a light weight trail shoe. Available in both men’s and women’s sizing (men’s color shown).
